Drug Free Youth Program:

The title of the program which will offer a membership card, merchant discounts, specific membership events and activities, and drug testing.

Program Benefits:

Those incentives which are offered only to members of the Drug Free Youth program.

Open Enrollment:

The period of time that is identified within each participating community during which teens can join Drug Free Youth.

Collection Site:

The location that is identified within each participating community where the actual urine samples are gathered.

Urinalysis:

The general type of drug test which, by testing a urine sample, will determine whether drugs have been used.

EMIT-Assay:

The specific method of testing used in the initial test of the urine sample to determine whether drugs are present.

Gas chromatography/

Mass spectrometry (GC/MS)

The specific method of testing used to verify the quantity and specific types of drugs detected in the initial test.

Screening Panel:

The specific list of drugs which will be tested for in the urinalysis (in this case alcohol, amphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, and opiates).

Medical Review Officer:

A trained medical professional (usually a physician) who reviews test results to determine medical reasons for positive tests.

Negative Test Result:

The result of a urinalysis which indicates the absence of any drugs in the sample, or where the Medical Review Officer can identify a specific medical reason to justify the presence of a detected drug.

Positive Test Result:

The result of a urinalysis which indicates the presence of one or more drug in the sample, for which there is no specific medical reason to justify its presence
